CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Guardians were staring at a 3-game sweep by the world champion Dodgers. One inning turned that around. Angel Martinez ripped a 3-run homer in the 8th, capping a 5-run rally, as the Guardians nipped LA 7-4 Wednesday afternoon at Progressive Field.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians manager Stephen Vogt sounded cautiously optimistic about Steven Kwan’s injury status following Cleveland’s 7-4 comeback win against the Dodgers on Wednesday at Progressive Field.

The Guardians made it all the way to the ALCS last year while dominating an AL Central division that sent three teams to the playoffs, and over the offseason they augmented their lineup with players like Carlos Santana, Nolan Jones, and Luis Ortiz.

The Guardians have their No. 1 and No. 3 hitters locked in, but finding production from the No. 2 spot remains a top priority.

Thomas had recently returned from the injured list after missing 28 games with a bruised right wrist that he originally suffered during Cleveland’s home opener against the White Sox on April 8. The Guardians went 15-13 with Thomas on the sidelines. He was 0 for 14 with an RBI and seven strikeouts in four games since his return.
