Jamie Foxx honored Quincy Jones with a posthumous Oscar statuette at the Governors Awards, two weeks after his death from pancreatic cancer at age 91

Quincy Jones received a posthumous honorary Lifetime Achievement Oscar at the 2024 Governors Awards on Sunday (Nov. 17). Jamie Foxx presented the award to the late music innovator’s children, but first shared his thoughts on Jones’ life and legacy.

Foxx and Jones, who died on Nov. 3, were longtime friends, with the music producer even stepping in to give advice to the actor from time to time

Foxx went on to thank Jones for the "wonderful stories" he told while visiting the actor-singer's home for family dinners. In 2004 Ray Charles biopic Ray, where Foxx portrayed the titular singer and pianist, Jones was played by Larenz Tate .
