MSU (3-5, 0-5) fell flat at Spartan Stadium, 31-20, in large part due to their own mistakes, specifically penalties. The Spartans were called for 12 penalties, costing them 105 yards in the game. Nine of those penalties were called on the offense with five being procedural infractions.
