Among the newer kids on the pro sports team block in the nation’s capital, Ottawa Charge people don’t fully understand those of us who have lived here for a long time.

With a quadruple-overtime loss in Montreal behind them, the Ottawa Charge are focused on responding Tuesday night when they host a Professional Women's Hockey League playoff game for the first time.

The Ottawa Charge took game one of their 2024-25 PWHL Playoffs matchup against the top-seeded Montreal Victoire. The 3-2 win by the visiting team is the first win for the franchise in their nascent existence. Furthermore, it marked the team’s first win at Place Bell.

Dozens of fans in Ottawa Charge jerseys gathered at Lowertown Brewery for a watch party event on Sunday afternoon. The fans were hopeful and in good spirits, even after host Montreal scored an early goal in the first period. One person played the kazoo while others yelled out “Charge!” in response.

After losing Game 1, the Montreal Victoire are confident they can get back on track in their best-of-five series.
