Mike Woodson is headed back to the NBA, as he will become the Sacramento Kings' new associate head coach under Doug Christie, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Wednesday. Woodson most recently coached the Indiana men's basketball team for four seasons before the two sides parted ways this offseason.

Woodson, who played college ball under Bobby Knight at Indiana, was drafted 12th overall by the Knicks in the 1980 draft. He spent 11 years in the NBA, including five seasons with the Kings, before becoming an assistant head coach with the Bucks in 1996.

After Atlanta didn't re-sign him to a new contract following the 2009-10 season, Woodson joined the New York Knicks coaching staff as an assistant for two years before taking over as head coach in 2012 following Mike D'Antoni's resignation. He led the Knicks to two playoff appearances before being fired in 2014.
