California wildfires continue with dry conditions and powerful winds —which are due to last through Friday — fueling at least five fires.

It follows criticism of the chancellor's trip which comes at a time of economic unease as UK borrowing costs rise.

As of Friday morning, the fires have destroyed more than 10,000 homes and buildings, according to local officials, while 153,000 people are under evacuation.
