Oct 12, 2020 · I have this old pioneer receiver XV-DV333 surround system. And a new 65inch 4k Toshiba tv. And I thought just connecting the tv to the surround sound via optical cable would work. So whatever you get, and u want to avoid the hassle of finding a stand-alone subwoofer, this new receiver must be able to drive your passive subwoofer.

Aug 20, 2016 · Have an older pioneer surround sound and trying to run the sound through it with my Sanyo TV. Sanyo has no audio out, only digital audio slink thing. Pioneer does not have the digital audio port same as the TV. I bought a converter online and tried to hook it up but it is still not working.... I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Dec 29, 2015 · I have a Pioneer XV-DV340 which until 2-3 days ago worked perfectly. If I connect it to the TV with Scart, it amplifies the sound from the TV and works as it should. But if I put a DVD, I get no sound. After 5-6 mins and pressing all the buttons, the sounds works on the DVD too but if I connect it with optical to the tv, I get no sound at all.

Likely an exposed bit of wire shorting or an internal short on a speaker or the receiver. You may also want to remove the cover for the receiver and blow everything out to rule out overheating.
