I'm, having my heads ported and polished, and they will be sitting on MLS felpro gaskets which are $100 a piece : / The guys at L&R engines recommended I do the mls felpro gaskets along with the ARP head studs. However, I think that thread also showed people's propensity to blindly go to ARP without even considering another option, which is foolish. For the record, I still use the $25 Alper Motorsports header studs over the $110 ARP studs. They also sell head studs for $129.

Sep 5, 2012 · ARP's torque spec is based off 75% of the fastener yield strength. If you are using ARP's bolt lube, the recommended value is 75 lb/ft. With any other assembly lubricant or motor oil, they recommend using the maximum value of 80 lb/ft for the 7/16 rod bolts. The small 8mm bolts would be 25 with ARP lube, or 28 if you use oil or any other lube.

May 2, 2008 · You will want to use bolts the studs dont allow you to lift the head straight up on the GTO due to clearance in the rear. The bolt part number for 05/06 is 134-3610 (SB Chevy LS6 Hex Head Bolt Kit) the LS1 is 134-3609(LS1 Hex Head Bolt Kit For LS1 Based Engines).

Dec 30, 2010 · Studs. There is less chance of damage to the threads in the aluminum block. There's more even clamping force....and you can remove the stud after the nut is off and take the head off. There is no more clearance issue than with bolts. Put the head on, screw in the stud, torque the nut. It's not rocket surgery.:mrrg:

Feb 17, 2010 · The machine shop that did my heads recommended straight non-detergent 30w oil. However, having ready Gerry's thread about how he broke an ARP bolt using 30w as lube I opted to locate some ARP assembly lube. I spread a little bit under the head bolts, washers and a tiny bit on the threads as the instructions said and had no issues with installation.
