However, a consortium led by HRH The Prince of Wales succeeded in purchasing the house and contents and, in doing so, saved Dumfries House and one of the most important collections of Georgian Scottish and English furniture for the nation.
Dumfries House is in East Ayrshire, south west Scotland. Access is from the A70 whether travelling westwards or eastwards. There are two entrances - one clearly marked ‘coaches only’ and the other ‘cars only’.
Occassionally throughout the season, Dumfries House will be able to add further tours to the schedule.
