The Gastonia Fire Department was called into service around 4 am on Wednesday morning for a reported structure fire at 1613 School Avenue. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a two story house fully involved with fire. Within about 15 minutes, the 21 responding firefighters had the fire under control. A boiler issue caused some carbon monoxide to leak into the building, but thankfully our sensors and alarms picked it up right away. It’s a good reminder of how important it is to have these kinds of safety devices at home and in the office.
