The Honolulu Police Department and the Hawaiʻi Department of Law Enforcement will be aggressively enforcing fireworks laws to prevent another tragedy like we saw in January of 2025 in Āliamanu. New laws are now in effect, including: - $25,000 fine/up to 10 years in prison for possession, distribution, or operation of illegal fireworks - $2,000 fine/up to 1 year in jail for setting off fireworks within 500 feet from a dwelling - $300 citation for possession or use of unpermitted fireworks | Mayor
