Col. Charles McGee was laid to rest in Section 3 of Arlington National Cemetery today. A Tuskegee Airman, McGee flew a total of 409 combat missions during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He retired from military service in 1973 after holding several command positions in the Air Force. His decorations included the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star. U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. John Canley was buried in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery on August 25, 2022. A U.S. Marine, Canley served for 28 years, including three combat tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for actions during the Battle of Hue City in 1968. While serving as company gunnery sergeant, Canley and his marines fought off fierce enemy attacks.
