Yesterday, FDNY Dispatchers, Firefighters, EMS and our NYPD partners worked quickly to rescue five children who became lost in a Staten Island sewer system. | New York City Fire Department (FDNY)

On March 13th, the FDNY received a call of two individuals lost in a wooded area on Staten Island. One of the individuals was trapped in mud up to his waist. Fire Alarm Dispatchers working at a call center in Brooklyn knew the area on Staten Island well and were able to keep the stuck pair calm while guiding fire units to the area. Dispatchers helped firefighters from Ladder 85 and Engine 165 reach the two civilians and their dogs and bring them to safety. No one required medical attention. “One
